Prairie Fill is a family-owned business in Thompson, North Dakota. We pack Midwest-grown buckwheat hulls as loose fill for pillows, cushions, meditation cushions, upholstery work, and craft projects. The idea is simple: offer one natural material, describe it plainly, and help people choose a useful amount for the thing they are making or refilling.

Before packaging, the hulls are mechanically separated, air-cleaned, and screened through a sieve to reduce fines and very small fragments. We pack them in a large resealable bag with transit-protection packaging so extra fill can be stored between adjustments.

Buckwheat hulls are a natural agricultural material, not a manufactured foam. Small differences in color, size, and texture are normal, and a small amount of natural dust may be present. An order includes loose hull fill only; it does not include a pillow cover, liner, or finished cushion.

Why loose buckwheat hull fill?

The curved, hollow shape of the hulls leaves small air spaces through the fill. The pieces shift when a pillow or cushion is shaped, then settle against one another under weight. That makes the fill breathable, moldable, and adjustable without relying on synthetic foam or polyester fiber.
