Accessibility.
We want anyone to be able to read about our hulls and buy them. Here is where we stand, plainly.
Prairie Fill is a small family operation, and this site was built by hand rather than assembled from plugins. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That target is self-assessed — we have not commissioned a third-party audit — so we would rather tell you exactly what we did and what we are unsure about than post a badge.
Keyboard and Focus
Every link, button, form field, and control can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. Focus is always visible as a high-contrast outline, never suppressed, and a “Skip to content” link is the first stop on every page.
Screen Readers
Pages use real headings and landmarks rather than styled text. Form fields have permanent labels, errors are tied to their field, and changes that happen without a page load — adding to the cart, checkout status — are announced through live regions.
Text and Contrast
Body and interface text is chosen to clear the 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background. Our terracotta accent does not meet that bar at small sizes, so it is used for decoration only, never for text you need to read.
Images and Motion
Photographs carry descriptive alternative text and purely decorative art is hidden from assistive technology. If your system asks for reduced motion, animations and transitions are turned off. Nothing on this site flashes, auto-plays, or moves on a timer.
Zoom and Small Screens
Text can be enlarged to 200% and the layout reflows to a single column without losing content or requiring horizontal scrolling. Fonts are served from our own server, so pages stay readable even when outside resources are blocked.
Known Limitations
The card entry field at checkout is supplied by Stripe inside a secure frame; we control its size, colors, and labels, but not the markup within it. We also have no formal audit or user testing with assistive technology yet. Both are honest gaps, not oversights we are hiding.
If any part of this site keeps you from finding what you need or completing an order, please tell us — email [email protected] or call (701) 732-0799. Describe the page and what went wrong and we will reply within two business days. If a barrier stands between you and an order, we will simply take that order over the phone or by email while we fix it.
